Record Breaking Season for David Moyes.

David Moyes deserves a medal for the number of records he’s broken this season. Unfortunately, however, none of these have actually been in Manchester United’s favour.  Sunday was the first time in 55 years that Fulham had managed a league draw at Old Trafford, and after this disastrous result, we look back at some of the other records the Scot has broken in a tough start to life at United.

  • Manchester United lost to West Brom at home for the first time since 1978
  • Moyes finally helped Everton to their first win at Old Trafford since 1992. Bit of a shame he was in the wrong dugout this time.
  • The red devils suffered three losses in a row in January, a feat that has not occurred since 2001.
  • Swansea beat Manchester United away for the first time ever when they knocked them out of the FA Cup in January.
  • United lost to Stoke for the first time in 30 years.

And a few others that might be smashed before the season closes:

  • The highest number of defeats Manchester United have ever suffered in a Premier League season is 9 (01/02 and 03/04). They have already lost 8 this season.
  • After 24 games last season, Ferguson had led the Red Devils to their highest points total at that stage. After 24 games, Moyes currently sees them with their worst tally at this point.
  • The club’s lowest ever number of wins in a Premier League season is 21. To merely equal this total, United will need to win 9 of their remaining 13 games.
  • The 2004/05 season saw Manchester United score their lowest amount of goals in a premier league season, with 58. They will need to find the net another 18 times before the end of the season to equal this.
  • Manchester United have not lost to Crystal Palace in the league since 1991. They are playing them away on the 22nd February.
  • Hull City have never beaten United in the league. David Moyes faces the Tigers at Old Trafford in April.

It’s highly unlikely the team will pick up any trophies this season, but Moyes has managed more than a few accomplishments in his first year in charge.
